First Responders Rush Harvey Weinstein To Hospital For Emergency Surgery: REPORT

Harvey Weinstein was rushed to hospital on Monday to undergo emergency heart surgery.

Weinstein's representatives Craig Rothfeld and Judah Engelmeyer reported that the disgraced Hollywood mogul had been suffering from chest pains while in custody at Rikers Island. ABC News.

“Mr. Weinstein was rushed to Bellevue Hospital last night due to several medical conditions,” his team told the outlet. “We can confirm that Mr. Weinstein underwent a cardiac procedure and surgery today but cannot comment further.”

It is unclear what circumstances led to the health crisis, or what Weinstein was doing when he began feeling unwell.

No information has been reported regarding his current condition.

“As we have stated many times before, Mr. Weinstein has a number of significant health issues that require ongoing treatment,” Rothfeld and Englemeyer told ABC News.

“We appreciate the swift response of the New York City Department of Corrections and the executive team at Rikers Island in transporting him to Bellevue Hospital,” authorities said in a statement, according to ABC News.

The medical emergency reportedly occurred just days before Weinstein was scheduled to appear in New York. ABC News reports that the 72-year-old former film producer is scheduled to attend as prosecutors continue to make their case to a grand jury. Prosecutors are trying to secure new indictments against Weinstein on sex crimes charges, the outlet reported.

According to the outlet, Weinstein continues to deny the allegations of misconduct and maintains that he only had consensual sexual relations with women.

A New York appeals court in April threw out Weinstein's 2020 rape conviction, finding that the judge had improperly included testimony from women who were not parties to the incident.
