On Sunday, Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill was handcuffed and detained by police just before a game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. of Atlantic Ocean Author Jemele Hill was not pleased with the cause of the incident.
A video showing four officers apprehending Hill face-down in the pavement shocked viewers on social media after he was later arrested for reckless driving and reportedly got into an altercation with officers.
The team later released a statement saying, “WR Tyreek Hill was involved in a traffic accident this morning about a block from the stadium and was briefly detained by police. He has since been released. Several teammates witnessed the accident and stopped to offer their support. Tyreek and all other players arrived at the stadium safely and are expected to play in today's game.”
Following this, former ESPN personality Jemele Hill dove headfirst into the conspiracy theory blaming Donald Trump.
“Please be aware that Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross is a huge Donald Trump fan. Trump supports granting all police immunity from prosecution. What you do with that is up to you,” Hill blared in a post on X on Sunday.
Despite Hill's absurd explanation for the incident, Stedman Stahl, president of the South Florida Police Benevolent Association, said Hill was “driving in a manner that placed himself and others at great risk and was therefore detained for the safety of our officers.” Fox News.
“When Mr. Hill was stopped, he did not immediately cooperate with the officers on scene and therefore, per protocol, for the officers' immediate safety, he was handcuffed,” Staal added. “Mr. Hill continued to be uncooperative and refused to sit on the ground, so he was forced to sit on the ground.”
Staal said the player had been issued two tickets and added, “We are confident in the actions that led to Mr. Hill's arrest, but as with any investigation, we await all the facts to come in along with an explanation for Mr. Hill's actions that led to this unfortunate incident.”
