Video shows aftermath of Delta plane collision at Atlanta airport

Video footage taken from the runway at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport showed the immediate aftermath of the collision between two planes operated by Delta Airlines on Tuesday.

Delta Air Lines told Fox News Digital that Airbus A350 Flight 295 was taxiing for takeoff when its wingtip struck the tail of Endeavour Air Flight 5526.

“The Delta Air Lines Airbus A350 was en route to Tokyo. The Endeavour Bombardier CRJ900 was en route to Lafayette, Louisiana,” the Federal Aviation Administration told Fox News Digital. “The FAA will be investigating the incident, which occurred at approximately 10:10 a.m. local time on Tuesday, Sept. 10, at the intersection of two taxiways.”

The footage shows the plane with a wingtip separated from the fuselage, and was apparently taken by someone in a vehicle traveling on the runway.

Delta said no one was injured in the crash and that flights continued as normal, while the airline's engineering department moved the plane to a maintenance hangar for inspection.

“There were 221 passengers on board DL295 and 56 passengers on DL5526,” the airline said in a statement. “No additional flight adjustments are planned at this time.”

According to a report released in April by Airports Council International, Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport will serve more than 104.6 million travelers in 2023, making it the busiest airport in the world. The airport has consistently held the top spot in recent years.
