Saying ‘People of Color Are Eating Your Pets’ Is ‘Racist’

During CNN's coverage of Tuesday's presidential debate, co-host Dana Bash said claims that Haitian immigrants are eating dogs and cats in Ohio are “racist.”

Discussing comments made by vice presidential candidate Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio), co-host Jake Tapper said, “I was looking at a New York Times article from eight days ago about the immigration crisis in Springfield and the problems that have arisen there. It's a weird excuse that you have to make up nonsense that's not true in order to report on something that the media is already reporting, but I digress.”

“I have to personally be offended that he's saying the media doesn't care about immigrant crime. There are all kinds of stories and reports about immigrant crime, and every state is a border state. This was a big issue at the Republican convention,” co-host Chris Wallace said.

“Let's get this straight. This isn't about the media not covering immigration, this is a racist issue. This is a racist meme. We're not covering this meme because we're covering the underlying allegations about immigration. We're not just covering the allegations, we're lying about people of color eating pets, and that's racist,” Bash said.
