The first trailer for “The Apprentice,” a new biopic about the start of former President Trump's real estate career, was released to the public on Tuesday ahead of its October release.
Directed by Iranian-Danish director Ali Abassi, “The Apprentice” tells the story of a young Trump, played by Sebastian Stan, as he rises through the ranks in New York real estate alongside his mentor, former lawyer Roy Cohn, played by Jeremy Strong.
trailer It shows Trump and Cohn meeting for the first time before the lawyer details his three rules for success.
“Attack, attack, attack. Conceal nothing, deny everything. Claim victory no matter what and never admit defeat,” Cohn said.
“You have to be willing to do anything against anyone to win,” he later added.
As Cohn's remarks play, the show plays a series of clips of Trump in New York developing and discussing new buildings and attending lavish events, some accompanied by his ex-wife, Ivana Trump, played by Maria Bakalova.
Towards the end of the trailer, a young Trump is asked what he would do if he lost his fortune, to which he jokes, “Well, maybe I'd run for president.”
“The Apprentice,” written by Gabe Sherman, premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May, where it reportedly received an eight-minute standing ovation but didn't win any awards. The first trailer was released last week.
The film is scheduled for release in the U.S. and Canada on October 11th ahead of the November election. Briarcliff Entertainment will handle the release.
The Trump campaign strongly criticized the film after it was released earlier this year, with the president's former communications director, Steven Chang, calling it “pure fiction that sensationalizes lies that have long since been exposed.”
In May, Trump's lawyers notified the studios to block the release of the film, and the team also threatened to sue over what they called “demonstrably false claims.”
