Portnoy says Trump faced ‘tag team match’ in Harris debate

Barstool founder Dave Portnoy thinks Donald Trump faced a “tag match” when he debated Kamala Harris on Tuesday night, and that it wasn't “great” for the former president.

“I don't think things are going well for Trump right now,” Portnoy said. Posts About X: “Maybe it can't be helped since it's a tag match, but I think it was the best.”

Portnoy, 47, is a vocal supporter of Trump. One of many celebrities who spoke out After Biden withdrew his reelection bid after his one term in July, ABC hosts David Muir and Lindsey Davis slammed him for not pressuring Harris as much as President Trump had.

“Shouldn't the moderator have interrupted her and told her to answer the question?” Portnoy wrote on X, criticizing Harris for her roundabout response to a question about whether the US economy had improved under the Biden administration.

“Is the economy getting better or worse? Please answer me.”

Mr Portnoy also criticised Mr Muir and Mr Davis for failing to ask for clarification on whether Ms Harris had met with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The former president said Biden ” [Harris] negotiate [Ukraine President Volodymyr] Zelensky and [Russian President Vladimir] “Putin did, and she did, and three days later the war started. That's the talent she has,” he said, referring to the vice president being deployed to Europe in February 2022 to thwart the Kremlin's invasion of Kiev.

“Vice President Harris, have you ever met President Vladimir Putin?” Muir asked in a follow-up question, which the Democratic presidential candidate called one of Trump's “lies.”

Instead, Harris said she met with Zelensky “more than five times.”

“Have you met President Putin? Simple question. No answer. No explanation from the moderators,” the Massachusetts-born entrepreneur wrote in his final post of the night.

Portnoy is Fox Business On Monday, he confirmed that he will vote for Trump in the 2024 election.

“I'm voting for Trump,” the Barstool Sports founder told Bernie & Co. host Stuart Bernie.

“I think it's important to have a strong voice in the conversation,” Trump said in a statement to reporters in the Spin Room after the 2024 presidential debate in Philadelphia on Sept. 10. AP

“I don't know if I'd call myself a Trump supporter. If I think there's a better candidate, I'll choose that candidate. I wouldn't have voted for him in the Republican primary, but I'm voting for him now.”

Portnoy was invited on the show to discuss a New York Times op-ed about how Taylor Swift's endorsement of Harris would affect the election, to which Portnoy, a self-described Swift fan, said he sees no “benefit” in getting involved in politics.

“I mean, it's different for everyone. If you feel morally or for whatever reason you have to get involved, I never criticize somebody for talking about politics, but I would be surprised if she did because she's never really participated in that forum,” Portnoy said.

Swift shocked some who have been following her political leanings by announcing her support for Harris and running mate Tim Walz toward the end of the debate on Tuesday.

“I'm voting for @kamalaharris because she's fighting for rights and causes I believe we need warriors to stand up for,” she said in an Instagram post.
