Indy Fever star Caitlin Clark appeared to step into the political world on Tuesday night, echoing Taylor Swift's support for Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election.

Clark was one of more than eight million Instagram users who “liked” Swift's statement, in which the pop star released a statement of support after the first presidential debate between Harris and former President Donald Trump on ABC News.

“Like many of you, I watched tonight's debate and if you haven't already, now is the perfect time to do some research on where the candidates stand on the issues at hand and the topics that matter most to you,” Swift wrote on Instagram. “As a voter, I make it a point to watch and read everything I can about their proposed policies and plans for our country.”

“I recently learned that an AI of 'me' was posted on his site falsely endorsing Donald Trump for president. It really brought out my fears about AI and the dangers of spreading misinformation. It has led me to the conclusion that as a voter, I need to be very transparent about my actual plans for this election. The easiest way to combat misinformation is to tell the truth.”

“I will be voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz for President in 2024. I am voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for rights and causes that I believe need warriors to defend them. I think she is a steady and talented leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm instead of chaos. I am so encouraged and impressed that she chose @timwalz as her running mate, someone who has stood up for LGBTQ+ rights, IVF and women's right to their bodies for decades.”

“I did my research and I made a choice. You are responsible for your research and the choice is yours. And I would say, especially to people voting for the first time, remember that you need to register to vote. And I think voting early is a lot easier. I'll put links in my story for where to register, early voting dates and information.”

At the end of her post, she described herself as a “childless, cat-loving woman.”

WNBA players have supported Democratic candidates, with the Seattle Storm endorsing President Biden and then-VP candidate Harris in 2020.

Clark does not appear to openly endorse any political candidates.

Clark was born in Des Moines, Iowa, and played at the University of Iowa before turning professional and being drafted by the Fever. Trump won Iowa's six electoral votes, but most of the votes in Polk County, where Des Moines is located, went to Biden.
