A Michigan teenager has been charged as an adult for allegedly shooting and killing the mother of another teenager who tried to protect him, authorities said.

Anthony Deshawn Sneed, 15, is charged with felony murder, second-degree murder, assault with intent to murder, armed robbery and four counts of felon in possession of a firearm as a minor in connection with the Sept. 4 shooting in Clinton Township.

The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office said Sneed had been in a fight with Tansean Sherrod's son. fox detroit Reported.

Sneed allegedly stole a gun from another juvenile, and when Sherrod tried to intervene to defuse the argument, Sneed shot and killed Sherrod, authorities said.

No details about the fatal crash have been released.

The other boy was shot and seriously injured, but his condition has not been released.

Sneed fled the scene and turned himself in to Detroit authorities the next day.
