Joe Burrow opens up on concerns over wrist after Week 1 Bengals loss

Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow said his wrist is “absolutely not” affecting his throwing after a video circulated online showing him appearing to bend his wrist during Cincinnati's season-opening loss to the Patriots on Sunday.

Varrow, 27, appeared unaware of the online uproar, saying he was “just drinking water” when answering a question about a video in which he was seen handling a water bottle in a bizarre way.

The moment went viral and sparked concern among Bengals fans after a surprising loss to the Patriots in Week 1, especially after a wrist injury that derailed his 2023 season.

When asked, “What did I do?” Barrow replied.

“Did you feel something strange?” he asked, after the reporter clarified the question. “I don't know. I drank some water. I can't say I saw it and I don't know what anybody is talking about.”

Barrow laughed at the absurdity of the social media chatter.

He insisted that his wrist was moving in the right direction.

“I'm feeling better this week than I was last week and the week before that, so it's just getting better and better,” Burrow told reporters. According to ESPN:.

Burrow is on the Bengals' injured list this week and ahead of Week 1 because of a wrist injury.

He tore the ligament in Week 11 of last season against the Ravens and underwent season-ending surgery in November.

Burrow maintained his wrist isn't preventing him from pitching.

“That's part of the ligament injury,” Burrow said. “If you don't move it, you're going to lose it. So I'm constantly moving my ligaments, keeping them loose and maintaining the mobility that they should have. So the ligament injury is going to continue.”

“I think he's OK,” Bengals coach Zac Taylor told reporters when the topic of Burrow's health came up, but didn't provide any further details.

The Bengals will face the Chiefs in Week 2.
