Harris fundraises off Taylor Swift endorsement

Vice President Harris' campaign is fundraising after receiving a major endorsement from superstar Taylor Swift on Tuesday night.

Swift endorsed Harris shortly after the vice president and former President Trump went head-to-head in Tuesday night's debate, explaining: In her message She said she supports her because “she's fighting for a right and a cause, and I believe we need warriors to defend that.”

“Big news: Taylor Swift has endorsed Kamala Harris for President,” a Harris campaign email sent Wednesday said.

“Join Taylor Swift in supporting Kamala Harris' campaign for Vice President?” the campaign added, asking for a donation of $25.

It included a photo of Swift and her cat, along with part of a message of support posted to her Instagram, in which the pop star called herself a “childless, cat-loving woman” and referenced past comments made by Republican vice presidential nominee Sen. J.D. Vance of Ohio.

Swift's endorsement was much-needed; she boasts a large following and a loyal fanbase, many of whom are women and young Americans. Harris' running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (Democrat), said in an MSNBC interview after the debate that he was “very grateful” for Swift's support.

The Harris campaign also highlighted its support on social platform X on Tuesday night, writing, “Ready for it” in a post that included Swift's song “…Ready For It?”

President Trump dismissed the endorsement early Wednesday, predicting the megastar would “pay a price” in the markets later.

“I've never been a fan of Taylor Swift,” Trump said Wednesday on “Fox & Friends.” “It was just a matter of time. There's no way she'd support Biden. … But she's a very liberal person. She always seems to support Democrats, and she's probably going to pay a price for that in the marketplace.”
