Main Thrust of the Kamala’s Economic Policy Is to Throw Everybody on Welfare

Vice presidential nominee Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) said on CNBC's “Squawk Box” on Thursday that a key component of Vice President Kamala Harris' economic agenda is “to put everybody on welfare.”

Co-host Joe Kernen said, “As we know now, people's economic views can evolve. You know, you see that if you look at former President Trump's opponents. But have your economic views evolved? I'll ask you then about some of the things you said in that segment. And how much of a difference is there now between your beliefs and what I would call economic populists? Is there a difference between you and President Trump right now?”

Vance said, “I don't think so. He picked me as his running mate and I'm running to implement Trump's policies and win. But I think President Trump's economic view is actually a very straightforward American conservatism that says we need to make things in this country. And to make things, we need common sense energy policies and regulatory policies. And the best way to lift workers is to promote good jobs and good wages, not put everyone on welfare. And in some ways, I think that's the thrust of Kamala Harris' economic policy.”
