Trump pollster touts post-debate bump for GOP nominee

Trump campaign pollsters bragged Thursday that former President Trump's approval rating had increased slightly after this week's debate, even as other polls showed Vice President Harris benefiting from the event.

In a memo sent by the campaign, pollsters Tony Fabrizio and Travis Tunis said they surveyed 1,893 voters in seven battleground states on Wednesday, the day after the Trump-Harris debate.

“Despite Kamala Harris and the media's efforts to portray the debate as a landslide victory for her, voters didn't see it that way, and support for Harris remained stable,” the pollsters wrote. “The only change was a two-point increase for President Trump on both ballots.”

Messrs. Fabrizio and Tunis said a pre-debate survey of 5,600 battleground-state voters found Trump and Harris neck and neck, with support for each at 46%. A post-debate poll showed Trump leading 48% to 46%.

Trump repeatedly claimed victory during Tuesday's debate, but Harris got on his nerves, repeatedly provoking him with attacks on his rally attendance, his standing among foreign leaders and his family's wealth.

Other post-debate polls have placed Harris in the lead.

a Morning Consult Poll The poll results released Thursday showed Harris leading by five points after ABC's pivotal debate, up from the three and four point leads she had in the same survey before the Philadelphia debate.

A Reuters/Ipsos poll released on Thursday showed Harris leading Trump by five points, up from four points in late August.
