Trump says ‘there will be no third debate,’ claiming victory against Harris in Tuesday’s showdown

Former President Trump declared victory in his showdown with Vice President Kamala Harris on Tuesday and said he would not take part in the third debate of this election cycle.

Harris' campaign said after Tuesday's debate that it was interested in hosting another debate, but Trump has not been keen on the idea and rejected the proposal outright by Thursday afternoon.

“When a professional boxer loses a fight, the first words out of his mouth are, 'I want a rematch,'” Trump wrote on Twitter. Real Social Accounts“Polls clearly show that I won Tuesday night's debate against fellow radical left Democratic candidate, Kamala Harris, and she has immediately called for a second debate.”

Trump said Harris and President “Bad Joe” Biden had “allowed millions of criminals and psychopaths into the United States with zero oversight or vetting, bankrupted the middle class with inflation, and destroyed our country.”

“Everybody knows about this and all the other problems that Kamala and Joe have caused. This was discussed at length in the first debate with Joe and in the second debate with Comrade Harris,” Trump said.

Trump appeared at a Fox News town hall debate on September 4 after Fox News invited the former president and Harris to debate.

“She did not appear at the Fox debate and she declined to appear on NBC and CBS,” Trump continued. “Kamala should focus on doing what she should have done the last four years.”

He added: “There will be no third debate!”

Biden's dismal performance in a debate with Trump in June instantly raised questions about his physical and mental ability to serve another four years in the White House and sparked calls, even from within his own party, for the 81-year-old president to not seek a second term.

Under increasing pressure from fellow Democrats, Biden made a big announcement on July 21, saying he was ending his reelection campaign and endorsing Harris, who quickly won the nomination without facing any opposition.

Trump and Harris engaged in a heated debate on Tuesday night on a range of issues including abortion, immigration, Israel and the economy, but Trump also took on ABC News hosts who were quick to challenge and “fact-check” the 45th president without addressing Harris's misleading statements.

Shortly after the debate ended, Trump told Fox News Digital that it was “the best debate I've ever been to, especially because it was three to one.” A CNN snap poll after the debate showed a majority of viewers said Harris had won the debate. A majority in Fox News Digital focus groups also gave Harris the win, but she was criticized for continuing to be equivocal on key issues.

Shortly after Tuesday's ABC debate, executives at Fox News Media sent letters to the Harris and Trump campaigns proposing hosting another debate with Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum as moderators.

Fox News Digital's Brian Flood contributed to this report.
