The South Alabama Jaguars never came close to matching the 222 points Georgia Tech achieved earlier in college football history, but they left a lasting mark.
South Alabama scored 24 points in the first quarter, 28 in the second quarter, 28 in the third quarter and seven in the fourth quarter. The Jaguars scored a total of 87 points in their 87-10 win over the Northwestern State Demons.

Jamal Pritchett gave South Alabama the lead with a 62-yard punt return touchdown less than two minutes into the game, and things only got worse for Northwestern State from there.

South Alabama quarterback Gio Lopez completed 15 of 19 passes for 257 yards and four touchdowns, Fluff Boswell rushed seven times for 143 yards and two touchdowns, and Kentrell Bullock rushed eight times for 102 yards and two touchdowns.
P.J. Martin and Jarvis Darr also had touchdowns for the Jaguars.
For the Demons, quarterback JT Fyard had 165 passing yards, one touchdown pass and two interceptions. Fyard's touchdown pass went to Myles “Kit” Denton, who had three catches for 80 yards.
South Alabama's previous high points total came two weeks in a row last season.

The Jaguars defeated Louisiana-Monroe, 55-7, and Southern Mississippi, 55-3. The Jaguars' 87 points were the most scored by a Football Bowl Subdivision school since 1991.
