Rick Steves endorses Harris for president, says world doesn't need 'chaos of Trump' 

In a video released Thursday night, travel author and television host Rick Steves endorsed Vice President Harris in the 2024 general election, arguing that the world doesn't need the “chaos” that would come from former President Trump returning to the White House.

“The world needs the stability of Kamala Harris, not the chaos of Trump,” Steves said. He said in the video The video was filmed in France and shared on social platform X. “To effectively face the challenges of the future, we need American leadership at home and abroad. That's why I'm voting Democrat, and I hope you will too.”

Steves, a prominent advocate of marijuana legalization and who has previously supported the Democratic Party against President Trump, further explained his choice in a message posted alongside the video.

“This is more than a Republican vs. Democrat issue,” he wrote. “Future great challenges will transcend borders: pandemics, refugees, climate change. They are everyone's problems, and we can only solve them by working together as a family of nations.”

The TV personality, who hosts “Europe with Rick Steves,” added that Americans should decide for themselves who they choose at the ballot box and encouraged them to register to vote at the polls. Vote.gov.

“How you vote is, of course, your choice,” Steeves wrote, “but if you believe, as I do, in the importance of our nation working together constructively, the stakes are very high… and the best candidate is clear.”

Steves supported former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in the 2016 election and has also supported current President Biden. 2020.

Harris' campaign has garnered support from Hollywood celebrities and pop culture figures, including pop superstar Taylor Swift, who endorsed her shortly after the ABC News debate between the Democratic candidates and Trump on Tuesday night.

“I think she is a poised and talented leader and I believe this country can achieve so much more if led with calm rather than chaos,” Swift wrote on her Instagram account, which has more than 280 million followers.

According to the General Services Administration, more than 330,000 visitors flocked to vote.gov within 24 hours of Swift's post-debate endorsement.

The Hill has reached out to both Harris and the Trump campaign for comment.
