Harris Would Prioritize Fighting Border Gangs Differently from Biden

Speaking on MSNBC's “Ana Cabrera Report” on Friday, Ian Sams, senior national spokesman for the Harris-Waltz campaign, said of 2024 Democratic vice presidential candidate Kamala Harris' experience, “Her experience fighting gangs that were smuggling people and drugs across the border is a history and track record that she brings to the values that she will prioritize on policy as president. That's clearly different from President Biden and certainly clearly different from President Donald Trump.”

While discussing the differences between Harris and Biden, moderator Ana Cabrera asked, “Can you point out specific differences on those important issues?”

Sams responded: “Well, for example, just a few weeks ago, in her small business support plan, she spoke about the investment climate that we need for entrepreneurs to start and grow small businesses. President Biden was proposing to raise the top capital gains, long-term capital gains tax rate to about 40%. She thought that was too high. So she proposed lowering that rate to 28% because that could help encourage investment in American entrepreneurs and startups. Because she really believes in stimulating the growth of small businesses in this country.”

He added, “There are certainly policy differences, but I think another thing that people need to remember is that they are different people. When you're on the campaign trail, people want to see someone who reflects their values and who they can relate to. And when the Vice President talks about, for example, her career as a prosecutor, who she's fought for, who she's defended, taking on big banks to get $20 billion for homeowners who were in the throes of the financial crisis, taking on gangs that were smuggling people and drugs across the border, that's her career and her track record, and it's reflected in the values that she will prioritize in her policies as president. That's clearly different from President Biden, and it's clearly different from President Donald Trump.”
