The Tyler Van Dyke era in Wisconsin quickly derailed.
The Badgers quarterback, who transferred to Wisconsin after four controversial seasons at Miami, left the team's highly anticipated matchup against No. 4 Alabama with an apparent knee injury in the first quarter Saturday.
On Wisconsin's first drive, Van Dyke scrambled on third down and was tackled near the sideline.
He immediately clutched his right knee and lay on the ground in pain before being carried off the field on a stretcher.
Braidyn Locke, who started three games for the Badgers last year, took over for Van Dyke.

The Badgers ended up scoring a field goal on the drive to take a 3-0 lead, but an injury to Van Dyke marred the strong start.
Alabama led 7-3 after the first quarter.
