Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz appeared to copy New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh's strategy Saturday, urging his Wisconsin supporters to work hard in the coming weeks to get Kamala Harris elected president.
“Together we can get this done, so I'm asking all of you here to step on the gas and not take the brakes off!” the Democratic vice presidential nominee, 60, told hundreds of attendees at a rally in Superior, Wisconsin.
“It took us 52 days to get this job done… and just think, when we wake up on the 53rd day, we get to say, 'Congratulations, Mr. President.'”
Waltz emulated Saleh's famous “full throttle, no brakes” mantra that he previously used to motivate his players as defensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers.
He made it the Jets' team slogan when he took over as head coach in 2021.
The Jets have gone 18-34 and have had losing seasons under Saleh, including a 32-19 loss to the 49ers in Monday night's season opener.
But the team is looking to get quarterback Aaron Rodgers healthy and end a 13-year playoff drought.

The star gunslinger briefly toyed with the idea of becoming Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s running mate for vice president earlier this year, but opted to stick with football.
Kennedy has since dropped his independent presidential campaign and endorsed Republican candidate Donald Trump.
