Former President Donald Trump's campaign said in a statement that the president is safe after a shooting near the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Fox News' Lucas Tomlinson confirmed that the Secret Service saw the man lift an AK-47 and opened fire.
Fox News host Sean Hannity also confirmed that a suspect had been arrested and was in police custody, and that local police had confirmed they had found an AK-47 in the bushes.
Hannity also confirmed through local police that four shots were fired.
Fox News host Bret Baier also spoke with Trump, who praised the Secret Service for their quick response. Trump told Baier that he was playing on the fifth hole at his golf course in West Palm Beach when he heard shots fired.
Trump reassured Beyer that he was OK and that there was no evidence that any shots had been fired or hit anyone nearby.
He was then placed in a golf cart and quickly taken from the area to the clubhouse.
“Please tell everyone that I'm OK and that the Secret Service did a great job,” Trump praised.
The Secret Service also confirmed the incident and said it was working closely with authorities to investigate the situation.
“The Secret Service, in coordination with the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, is investigating the incident involving security for former President Donald Trump which occurred just before 2:00 p.m. The former President is safe,” the agency confirmed in X's post.
The White House acknowledged the incident.
