what happened?President Trump was playing golf in West Palm Beach, Florida on Sunday when Secret Service agents noticed an individual with a rifle approximately 300-500 yards away. Secret Service agents fired shots at the man, who then dropped the AK-type weapon. The suspect fled in a vehicle and was later arrested on Interstate 95.
Who is the suspect?: 58 years old Ryan Wesley Routh, According to The Hill's sister network, NewsNationAuthorities have yet to determine a motive. He was reportedly a vocal supporter of the Ukraine war. The New York Times I interviewed him. Last year, she appeared in front of the camera for a story about Ukraine. New Developments The suspect has been charged with federal gun crimes, and more charges, including more serious ones, are possible as the investigation continues, according to the Associated Press.

As authorities investigate a second deadly incident involving a former president, the Secret Service is feeling the brunt of the fallout.
President Biden After Sunday's incident, Biden said the Secret Service “needs more help” to protect Trump. “Let me be very clear: The Secret Service needs more help, and I think Congress should meet their needs,” Biden told reporters on Monday.

President Trump's security concerns are clear The Secret Service has come under intense scrutiny after a gunman fired a bullet that grazed President Trump's ear during a rally in Pennsylvania in July.
Secret Service Director at the time Kimberly Cheatle He was grilled in Congress about the incident and ultimately resigned.
Sunday's events have reinforced concerns that threats against President Trump and other politicians are not likely to go away anytime soon and raised questions about whether enough precautions are being taken.

Leaders of both parties immediately called for de-escalating tensions. Trump has avoided outdoor rallies since the first assassination attempt on him, but it was unclear how Sunday's incident would affect the candidates' schedules going forward.
Trump has been fundraising around the case.“I will never surrender,” the former president wrote in a campaign email sent shortly after news broke of the attack at his Florida golf course on Sunday afternoon.
