‘You Cannot Think That’: Mark Halperin Shakes Head At Dem Strategist Who Claims Harris Did Well In Solo Interview

Journalist Mark Halperin shook his head in disbelief on Monday when Democratic strategist Tim Hogan asserted that Vice President Kamala Harris performed well in her first solo television interview on Friday.

Harris said, Interview When Brian Taff, host of Philadelphia's 6ABC Action News, asked about “specific” strategies to improve inflation for Americans, Halperin spoke at length about his middle-class upbringing. Live Stream Hogan suggested on his platform, 2WAY, that he would lose “credibility” if he didn't amend his answers, but Democratic strategists have reinforced their views. “I think, objectively, this was a disaster. I heard from a lot of Democrats saying, 'I'm glad no one had to watch this,'” Halperin said at the start of the show. “It was barely aired on Sunday shows or any other shows over the weekend.”

Halperin later asked Hogan if he thought “her answers were good,” to which the Democratic strategist replied, “Yeah, I did.” The reporter shook his head at the answer and repeated Hogan's name three times, but allowed him to continue.

“She talked about people's lawns at the end of her answer, but it was about middle-class pride,” Hogan said, before Halperin interjected, correcting her: “In fact, her answer was about lawns before she mentioned any specific lawns.”

Tough began the interview by asking Harris to name “one or two specific things” she would do to ease the burden on Americans.

“First of all, I grew up middle-class. My mother raised me and my sister. She worked very hard and we finally saved up enough money to buy our first house when I was a teenager,” she replied. “I grew up in a community of hardworking people: construction workers, nurses, teachers.”

“I tried to explain that a lot of people who haven't had the same experience can relate. I grew up in a neighborhood where people were very proud of their turf,” Harris added, “and I was raised to believe and know that every person is worthy of dignity, and that we as Americans have beautiful character.”

The vice president ultimately unveiled several economic policy plans, including tax credits for housing developers, down payment assistance for home buyers and tax credits for starting small businesses.

“I will work with you to improve your credibility. I don't think that's a good answer,” Halperin said. “I was inundated with Democrats, including Democrats who work for her, and they said that's not good.”

Hogan reinforced his belief that Harris had done a good job, arguing that her interview answers were not a major departure from previous policy statements.

Radio host and Harris supporter Sharlaman the God criticized the vice president on Monday for appearing to recite pre-prepared lines rather than answering Taff's questions.

“You don't have to be so scripted in the conversation. The guy said, 'Name two things you're going to do for the economy,' or something like that,” Charmagne said. “This wasn't the time to tell the script about growing up middle class. Just tell us two things.”
