Family of teen cheerleader from ‘America’s Got Talent’ speaks after her suicide

The heartbroken parents of a teenage cheerleader who died by suicide just weeks after a spectacular appearance on “America's Got Talent” spoke out Sunday, saying their beloved daughter's death has left a “hole the size of the universe” in their hearts.

Emily Gold, a 17-year-old from California, died after jumping off an overpass in Rancho Rancho. Cucamonga On Friday night, the San Bernardino Coroner's Office ruled it a suicide. According to US Magazine.

“Dear Friends, It is with immeasurable sadness that we must tell you that we lost our beautiful Emily on September 13th,” family members Steven and Brandi Gold wrote in a post on Sunday.

“Right now, there is a hole in our hearts the size of the universe,” they continued. “The outpouring of love and support we are receiving shows how many lives this angel touched and uplifted, and it will help us get through one of the most difficult times of our lives.”

“Thank you so much for all your love and support.”

Emily's brother, Alex, also signed off on the post and left a message of grief in the comments section.

“I love you, sis. I would do anything for you. I'll always be looking for you in the skies,” he wrote, concluding his post with a yellow heart emoji.

Emily's death came just a month after her school's dance team appeared in the quarterfinals of NBC's reality show “America's Got Talent.”

Gold and her teammates wowed the judges, including notoriously brooding celebrity Simon Cowell, who gave them a rare standing ovation after their performance at the auditions in May.

“It was absolutely amazing,” Cowell, 64, said at the time. “What I loved about it was, first of all, the energy. I think what I saw was everything a great school should do, which is to encourage talent and friendship.”

The energetic troupe was eliminated in the quarter-finals of the show in August.

But Cowell continued to be impressed.

“I don't know anything about dancing,” he said, “but to me it was an event.”

The teenage dancer seemed grateful despite her elimination, writing in one of her final Instagram posts that performing on the show had been “the most amazing experience.” According to Pennlive.

On Friday night, the California Highway Patrol received a report of a teenage boy wandering through traffic in Rancho Cucamonga, near Los Angeles.

But the police were too late. The US newspaper The Sun reported this. When they arrived, Emily's body was lying underneath the overpass.

Authorities believe the woman was hit at least once, but the driver has not been found, the media reported.

The Los Osos High School dance team released a statement on Monday mourning the death of their “beautiful, kind and loving” captain, Us Weekly reported.

“Through her strength, dedication, kindness, compassion and humility, Emily has always embodied every aspect of our team's core values,” the team wrote.

“She will be remembered as a leader, role model, friend and sister to her teammates.”

“Our sweet Emily, we love you endlessly and miss you more than words can express,” they said. “Everything we do is for you, our beautiful angel.”
