Former President Donald Trump said that two assassination attempts “didn't break his will,” but “strengthened” his resolve to use his “time on earth to Make America Great Again.”
Speaking at a rally in Uniondale, New York on Wednesday, Trump said his “encounter with death” had not broken his will, but had only given him a “greater and stronger mission.”
Trump added that God had “saved” his life twice.
“God has now saved my life, not once, but twice. And some say he did it because Trump is going to rebuild this state, he's going to rebuild this country, he's going to make America great again, and we're going to bring religion back to our country,” Trump said. “These encounters with death have not shattered my will, but rather given me a bigger, stronger mission. It has only strengthened my resolve to use my time here on Earth to make America great again for all Americans and to put America first.”
Trump's comments came after the arrest Sunday of Ryan Wesley Routh, who was reportedly hiding in bushes near the Trump International Golf Course, where Trump was playing golf.
The suspect reportedly fled the scene after Secret Service agents spotted him through a fence pointing a rifle and firing.
Police said they found two backpacks, an AK-style rifle and a Go-Pro camera in the bushes where Routh was hiding.
This happened during a President Trump rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on July 13, after gunman Thomas Matthew Crooks opened fire from the roof of a nearby building.
Trump died from a gunshot wound that penetrated above his right ear.
The former president previously credited God with helping him survive after the first assassination attempt, and after the second, Trump revealed on X-Space that “something is going on, and it's probably God.”
