New York magazine reporter Olivia Nuzzi has repeatedly called out Robert F. Kennedy Jr. since the apparent beginning of her romantic relationship with him, while her cavalier attacks on people who accuse reporters of cheating with their sources have backfired on her.
The 31-year-old star political reporter was placed on administrative leave after admitting to a non-physical “personal relationship” with a former target of the 2024 campaign while covering the presidential election. The magazine said: Late Thursday.
Sources, who neither Nuzzi nor the magazine would reveal the identity of the person, told The Washington Post that the Washington correspondent had been sexting Kennedy, who was engaged and married.

Still, a tweet she posted in 2015 has resurfaced, in which Nuzzi shared a link to a New York magazine article about the film's portrayal of female reporters as “slutty sluts.”
“Why does Hollywood think female reporters will sleep with their sources?” Nuzzi I wrote to X In a post from years ago, she added: “I actually don't want to know why you all think that, which is the whole point of this article.”
After the scandal broke, one follower wrote: “This never gets old,” while another sarcastically asked: “Update?”
Meanwhile, the magazine said it had investigated Nuzzi's interviews for the publication after the relationship came to light and found no “evidence of inaccuracies or bias.”
“If the magazine had known about this relationship, she would not have continued covering the presidential campaign,” they said in a statement.
“She is now on leave from the magazine while we conduct a more thorough, independent investigation. We regret having violated our readers' trust.”
Kennedy has been married to Curb Your Enthusiasm actress Cheryl Hines since 2014.
