An illegal immigrant who managed to cross the U.S.-Mexico border undetected has been charged with multiple sex crimes against children, including three counts of child rape, on the wealthy island of Nantucket off the coast of Massachusetts.
Elmer Sola, a 49-year-old illegal immigrant from El Salvador, Crossed The incident, the date and time of which is unknown, occurred on the U.S.-Mexico border.
Sola is one of millions of so-called “fugitives” who have slipped across the border without being detected by Border Patrol and are living in American communities.
It's estimated that at least 2 million fugitives have crossed the border into the U.S. under the administration of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris alone.
In August, Sola was arrested in Nantucket and charged with three counts of felony rape and eight counts of indecent assault on a child under the age of 14.
Agents from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested Sola this month, and he remains in ICE custody awaiting deportation from the United States.
“Elmer Sola is suspected of illegally entering the United States and then entering the Nantucket community where he committed horrific and despicable crimes against children,” ICE official Todd Lyons said in a statement. “ERO Boston officers will not tolerate threats like this against the children of our New England neighborhoods.”
