Vice President Harris' campaign released an ad on Friday highlighting former President Trump's praise for North Carolina Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson (R). CNN's shocking report Regarding the gubernatorial candidates.
“Both are wrong” includes footage of Trump speaking about Robinson, calling him “better” and “outstanding” than Martin Luther King, Jr. and that “he was an incredible lieutenant governor.”
The advertisement is First reported by CNNThe video also includes footage of Robinson expressing his far-right views on abortion, and claims that “neither Donald Trump nor Mark Robinson belong in North Carolina.”
The Harris campaign is targeting North Carolina, a state that Trump won in 2016 and 2020, as a turning point in the race. Trump leads Harris in North Carolina by 0.5 percentage points, according to a Hill/Decision Desk poll.
Shortly after a CNN report on Robinson uncovered a series of inflammatory comments he allegedly made on a pornography message board more than a decade ago, the Harris campaign posted a video on social platform X of Trump praising Robinson.
The Democratic National Committee (DNC) has also launched an ad linking Trump to Robinson, saying it was “blitzing” messages in the North Carolina cities of Raleigh, Charlotte and Greensboro ahead of Trump's rally in Wilmington on Saturday.
Robinson will not attend Trump's rallies, sources told The Hill on Friday, after Trump backed Robinson, who has vowed to continue campaigning despite widespread criticism of his past comments.
The Trump campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment about the Harris ad.
