NBA All-Star Dejounte Murray appears to be joining the fray.
Murray, a guard for the New Orleans Pelicans, commented on an Instagram post highlighting some of the WNBA records set by Caitlin Clark in her first season in the league. “She's not underwhelming,” Murray wrote, along with several laughing emojis.
Murray's comments came just days after four-time WNBA champion Sheryl Swoopes suggested rookie Clark's performance was “good” but she wouldn't call her performance this season “overwhelming.”

Clark finished the regular season averaging 19.2 points, 8.4 assists and 5.7 rebounds per game. Her assist average was the best in the league in 2024. The Connecticut Suns' Alyssa Thomas averaged 7.9 assists per game, second-best in the WNBA this season.

“These are crazy numbers,” Swoopes said earlier this week.Gill's Arena“But to me, it's not overwhelming.” A few months ago, Swoopes was criticized for suggesting Clark set the NCAA's all-time scoring record because he had the advantage of having played five seasons at the college basketball level.
Clark played a total of four seasons at the University of Iowa. Swoopes later admitted he made a mistake and said he apologized directly to the Indiana Fever rookie.

When Swoopes was again a guest on former NBA player Gilbert Arenas' podcast in February, she predicted Clark wouldn't experience the same level of success at the pro level anytime soon as he did in college.
“Can Kaitlyn Clark excel as a pro? Absolutely. Can Kaitlyn Clark walk into the WNBA and immediately do what she's doing now? Absolutely not. It's not going to happen.”

During his latest podcast appearance, Swoopes revisited those comments and clarified his statements.
“I know people are going to say, 'I told you she wasn't,' but I never said she wasn't,” Swoopes said. “What I said was I didn't think Caitlyn or Angel were not good. [Reese] They would come into the league and immediately dominate, but I don't think that happened for either team.”
