Mark Krikorian, executive director of the Center for Migration Studies, said President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris' policy of “unlimited immigration” into the United States was implemented “by design, not incompetence.”
At a House Oversight Committee hearing this week, Krikorian made it clear that Biden and Harris' welcoming of millions of immigrants into American communities in less than four years was by design, not by chance.
“The Biden-Harris Administration's immigration policies are not the result of incompetence or failure. The greatest border crisis in the history of our nation, perhaps the greatest in human history, was started by design on January 20, 2021, not by incompetence,” Krikorian said.
Since that day, there have been more than 10 million encounters of unauthorized aliens at our borders, millions of whom have been and continue to be admitted into the United States illegally. This did not happen because the Biden-Harris administration and impeached Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas made a mistake or miscalculated. [Emphasis added]
Krikorian said the pro-right to migration ideology of Biden, Harris and DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has dictated the administration's official border policy, even though it contradicts federal immigration law.
“There are two schools of thought on the immigration issue in general: Either we don't allow anyone from around the world to come here, with limited exceptions, or everyone from around the world is allowed here, with limited exceptions,” Krikorian said.
Of course, the Immigration and Nationality Act is based on the former viewpoint: foreigners have no right to immigrate here. However, the specific grounds for accepting a limited number of people will be decided by us, the people. [Emphasis added]
This administration’s approach to immigration is based on the opposite view: that anyone from anywhere in the world has the right to immigrate here. If they wish, they should do so, and the American people have no right to restrict immigration except for those related to basic security. [Emphasis added]
Krikorian said it would be more accurate to describe the Biden-Harris policy not as “open borders” but as “unlimited immigration” regardless of the impact on Americans.
“I would describe the Biden-Harris immigration platform as an unlimited immigration policy that asserts that any limits on immigration levels are morally indefensible and that it is our moral imperative to avoid them by any means necessary,” Krikorian said.
“Of course this is fundamentally contrary to federal law, but it's also contrary to the Constitution and the sovereignty and consent of our government,” he continued.
Krikorian's testimony came as a House Homeland Security Committee report released this week detailed how more than 85% of migrants arriving at the southern border are released into American communities.
