UK authorities have recently uncovered the shocking and tragic cause of death of a Welsh man last year.
The Western Telegraph reported that Barry Griffiths, 57, died after accidentally stabbing himself with a knife while separating frozen burgers in June 2023. Authorities announced their findings at a coroner's court inquest on Monday.
Mr Griffiths, from Llandrindod Wells, stabbed himself in the abdomen while trying to cut the frozen burgers apart with a knife. At the inquest on Monday, coroner Patricia Morgan said he had suffered a stroke which left him with reduced movement in one arm which likely contributed to the accident.
Sadly, Griffith's body remained in his apartment for several days after his death. Morgan said Griffith “was killed in a car crash.”[had a] It took police more than a week to carry out a health check on him because he had “limited contact with others and lived a relatively private life.”

Mr Griffiths' body was discovered in his bed on July 4, 2023. His mobile phone was last used on June 23 and his laptop on June 24, according to the Western Telegraph.
Griffiths also had arteriosclerosis, meaning his arteries were clogged with plaque, which Morgan said restricted blood flow to his heart and contributed to his death.
Authorities initially believed Griffiths' death may have been a suicide or homicide, but Deputy Inspector Jonathan Rees said they ultimately determined his death was “an accident involving only Mr Griffiths.”

“The bottom drawer of the freezer had been left open and pulled out far enough to access food,” Rees told the Western Telegraph. “Two uncooked burgers, a knife and a tea towel were found on a work bench in the kitchen adjacent to the freezer.”
“The wound in the abdomen would have been at about the same height as the workbench,” he added. “My hypothesis at the time was that Mr Griffiths was using the knife to slice up some frozen burgers.”
During the hearing, Mr Morgan told Mr Griffiths' family he understood “listening to the evidence will be difficult and traumatic”.
“We thank everyone for their patience as the investigation continues and offer our condolences during this difficult time,” Morgan was quoted as saying.
