A new poll shows Vice President Harris leading former President Trump by five points nationally.
The survey found that: Conducted by NBC NewsThe poll found Harris leading Trump with 49 percent.
The results are within the poll's margin of error, but the outlet noted they are a change from a survey conducted in July, when President Biden was still campaigning.
In July, 12% of voters said they did not want to vote for either Trump or Biden. That number has now fallen to 7%.
The last poll had Biden's approval rating at 43 percent, but Harris has increased her support and is approaching the 50 percent threshold, while Trump has lost 1 percentage point.
Harris's favorability ratings increased significantly as voters got to know her.
The outlet reported that her favorability rating has risen 16 points since July, the biggest increase for a politician in the NBC News poll since then-President George W. Bush after the 9/11 attacks.
The survey noted that some Republicans who voted for Trump in 2016 and 2020 showed similar signs of disdain for the candidate but ultimately went back to voting for Trump, suggesting that some of Trump's polling may not reflect people's voting behavior weeks later.
Harris's boost nationally could be attributed to her campaigning in battleground states, where she slightly widened her lead over Trump after the presidential debate, according to a CBS News poll released Sunday.
The NBC News poll was conducted Sept. 13-17 among 1,000 voters and has a margin of error of 3.1 percentage points.
