No Charges over Fatal Shooting at Detroit Lions Tailgate

No charges will be filed against the suspect who possessed a gun and shot and killed two people during a Detroit Lions tailgate party last Sunday.

Breitbart News reported on the shooting, which happened after a fight around 4:30 p.m., and said one person died at the scene. A second person later died at a hospital.

FOX 2 Detroit reported that investigators determined a 40-year-old concealed carry gunman fired the fatal shots after first being held at gunpoint by Jalen Welch.

One shot from the concealed weapon went off, striking Welch in the head and a passerby named Rayshawn Palmer, killing both Welch and the passerby.

Live Citation “Most heartbreaking is the fact that a completely innocent bystander, Mr. Palmer, was shot and killed by the same bullet that penetrated Mr. Welch's head,” Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said. “It could have been any of us. We have reviewed all applicable laws and there is no crime that can be charged and proven beyond a reasonable doubt.”
