Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Arkansas) said Sunday on CNN's “State of the Union” that the Biden-Harris administration “probably has been more effective in prolonging the fighting” by pressuring Israel rather than Hamas.
“Over the last 11 months, a lot of attention has, rightly, been focused on Hamas in the south, but I think many Americans probably don't realize the extent to which Hezbollah in Lebanon has launched attacks on Israel,” Cotton said.
He added: “Israel has the right to defend itself and launch attacks against terrorist organizations in Lebanon, and we need to give them the means to defeat both Hamas in the south and Hezbollah in the north and to protect their people.”
Host Jake Tapper asked, “Is the US not giving Israel the tools it needs?”
Cotton said, “No, they are not. First of all, they have not given Israel the political and diplomatic support it needed from the beginning. If Joe Biden and Kamala Harris had adopted a policy of letting Israel win and fully supporting them, instead of constantly trying to put more pressure on Israel than they are putting on Iran and its terrorist organizations, the war and Hamas would probably have ended a long time ago.”
