The Detroit Lions scored a stunning touchdown with a signature street football play against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday afternoon in Glendale.
With the Lions leading 13-7, Jared Goff and the offense put together another solid drive that got them to the Arizona 21-yard line. The offensive coordinator called for a fun play, assuming the Lions could pull it off.
With Goff back in the pocket, he found top target Amon-Ra St. Brown on a short slant.

But the ball was in his hands only for a split second as he threw it laterally to running back Jameel Gibbs, who was running the other way behind him.
The play, known as the “hook and ladder,” worked to perfection, as Gibbs not only gained yards with his incredible speed, but also dove into the end zone for a 20-yard score to give the Lions a 20-7 lead.
The Lions posted the spectacular play on social media, and commentators were quick to point out the crowd's reaction: They were simply in awe of the play.
As it was an away game for the Lions, Cardinals fans were astounded as the team on the field to see their team function perfectly.

Plays like the hook and ladder need to work perfectly to be successful on game day, as the ball moves so quickly that players need to be careful not to turn it over.
The Lions had clearly been working on this in practice and Johnson had confidence in his stars to make it work. The results couldn't have been better.
Detroit is coming off a tough loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, in which they abandoned their running game and let Goff throw 55 passes in a 20-16 loss.

The Lions rushed for 145 yards in the third quarter and established their run game against the Cardinals.
