The Dolphins' quarterback woes continued on Sunday when backup Skylar Thompson left the game with an injury, forcing former Jets player Tim Boyle to take over.
The injury occurred in the third quarter, with the Dolphins already trailing the home team, Seahawks, 17-3, when Thompson was hit hard by Dre'Mont Jones just as he was about to throw the ball.
Thompson tumbled to the ground, landing first on the left side of his body, then collapsed onto his back in pain.
While he was on the field for a few minutes, the Dolphins training staff came out to watch him.
He was eventually removed from the field and Boyle, who wore the Jets' green and white uniform last season, took his place.
The Dolphins later announced that Thompson would miss the game due to a chest injury.
Thompson completed 13 of 19 passes for 107 yards and no touchdowns on Sunday before the injury.
But the Seahawks have had some success attacking Thompson.
Seattle had recorded five sacks and nine quarterback hits on Thompson prior to the injury.
Boyle completed two of his first three passes on his first drive under center.
The latest blow to the Dolphins' quarterback depth underscores the tough situation Miami finds itself in with starter Tua Tagovailoa sidelined with a concussion.
Tagovailoa did not play but was on the sideline against Seattle.
Tagovailoa will miss at least four games while on injured reserve, and questions remain about his future on the football field.
For the time being, the Dolphins will need to decide what to do with their quarterback.
