In Lebanon, thousands of Hezbollah operatives were injured when Hezbollah pagers spontaneously exploded almost simultaneously in an unprecedented attack believed to have been carried out by Israel.
“It appears that Israel was somehow involved in the supply chain, which means that the terrorists likely bought their pagers from Israel,” Karol Markowitz, New York Post columnist and host of “The Karol Markowitz Show,” told Blaze News Tonight's Jill Savage and Matthew Peterson.
“We don't know exactly how they did it. How they got them all to explode at the same time is a really big mystery right now. All of that is a really big question,” she added.
Peter Gietle, editor-in-chief of Return and Frontier magazine, is interested to see where this goes.
“Karol, are you at all concerned that this will lead to an escalation of the conflict in the region?” he asked. “Of course, as you correctly pointed out, this has been going on for the last year, but I mean, is there a risk that this could escalate into an all-out war with Iran, or at least with Iranian proxies in Lebanon?”
“I'm worried about everyone in the Middle East,” she replies.
Perhaps even more worrying is how easily a cell phone could be turned into a bomb.
“I think it's interesting,” Peterson added. “This technology shows that it's possible to develop technology that has a bomb inside it that can be detonated at a later time.”
“If what we've just seen is feasible, it's not impossible – it means that at any time they could sell a product that could be used as a bomb. I think for a lot of people right now it opens up the imagination to a lot of dark possibilities,” he added.
