Start time of Mets-Braves series finale may be moved up due to hurricane

The Mets and Braves are scheduled to play at 7:20 p.m. Thursday at Truist Park in Atlanta in the final game of a key series between the NL East rivals, but the game time could change due to a possible hurricane approaching the area on Thursday.

No decisions had been made about future series as of Monday night, but MLB has been proactive about other matchups with playoff implications, announcing Monday that Tuesday's game between the Tigers and Rays at Comerica Park in Detroit has been moved from a 6:40 p.m. start time to 1:10 p.m. because of poor weather forecasts.

“The decision was made to identify the best opportunity to play the games,” MLB said in a statement.

The playoffs are scheduled to begin on Oct. 1, just two days after the end of the regular season, with no rest days remaining, leaving little time to make up games, so the league is actively working on rescheduling.

MLB will consult with the Atlanta-area weather service and discuss alternative options with teams if necessary.
