“A search of the SD card contained within Device 1 revealed it contained hundreds of child pornography files,” prosecutors said. “These files included videos of known child pornography series originating outside of North Carolina.”
Oran Alexander Routh is charged with one count of receiving child pornography and one count of possessing child pornography.
Investigators said the images were found on a Samsung Galaxy Note device in the man's master bedroom and on another Galaxy Note device. Prosecutors said they had evidence of conversations in which Orlan Routh was attempting to purchase child pornography.
A spokesperson for the US Attorney's Office for the Mid-Carolina District confirmed to CBS News that authorities were investigating an alleged assassination attempt on President Trump when they searched Orlan Routh's home.
Following the arrest of Ryan Routh on suspicion of plotting to assassinate President Trump outside the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida, Orlan Routh justified his father's actions in an interview.

Ryan Routh was initially charged with gun offenses, but prosecutors said they plan to charge him with attempted assassination, which could carry a life sentence.
