Former President Donald Trump told Breitbart News that Vice President Kamala Harris should be honest with voters about what kind of guns she owns if she does in fact own a gun.
“If she has a gun, she should say what gun it is,” Trump told Breitbart News when asked about Harris' comments about owning a gun at the ABC debate and at a recent event with Oprah Winfrey. During her interview with Winfrey, Harris even said that if someone broke into her house, she would shoot them.
Harris previously said during the 2019 campaign spree that she owned a firearm while running for president in 2020. Campaign staff declined to answer questions about the type of weapon she had. It says it's a gun It was small enough to fit in her handbag.
Breitbart News has asked several Harris campaign staffers for clarification on this matter, including when they purchased the guns, whether they own more than one gun, whether they have ever used them for self-defense as they told Winfrey, and what exact models of guns they own. Harris campaign staffers, including Brian Fallon, Ian Sams, and Adrienne Elrod, have refused to answer questions from Breitbart News, as well as similar questions from CNN's Jim Acosta.
Elrod Acosta said. When asked to elaborate further about the firearms Harris claims to own, she said she “can't really comment on that.”
When asked about Harris' campaign's refusal to answer questions about her gun rights claims, Trump told Breitbart News he found it “disgraceful.”
“That means she lied about the guns,” Trump told Breitbart News, adding that Harris had been “surrounded by armed guards” for decades, dating back to when she was San Francisco district attorney in 2004 and when she served as California's attorney general.
Regarding Harris' comments about gun ownership, President Trump said, “She was just trying to convince people that she doesn't want to confiscate guns.”
In fact, on Wednesday, The Reload published an article showing that Harris did in fact support gun confiscation as a California politician: When she was San Francisco's district attorney, the outlet reported, she voiced support for a ballot measure to confiscate handguns.
“Vice President Kamala Harris supported a 2005 ballot measure that banned San Francisco residents from owning handguns. The Democratic presidential candidate supported Proposition H as the city's district attorney at the time,” Reload's Steven Gutowski said. Reported“The bill would ban San Francisco residents from buying, selling or possessing handguns, with exceptions for active-duty law enforcement officers, military personnel and licensed security guards. 58% voted in favor of the bill, but it faced immediate legal scrutiny from the National Rifle Association (NRA), the California Rifle and Pistol Association (CRPA) and other gun rights groups.”
