A’s fans try to take seats from Oakland Coliseum ahead of team’s final game at ballpark

The Oakland Athletics are set to say goodbye to the Bay Area on Thursday, and fans are hoping for a piece of history.

Apparently, two of the team's fans were planning to go the extra mile to try and snatch seats directly from the field at the Oakland Coliseum.

After Tuesday night's game against the Texas Rangers, two fans ripped a seat off the concrete.

Unfortunately, they were caught, asked to leave the area and eventually put their seats back in their original places.

Maybe the fans got a little too excited after Oakland came from behind to win a walk-off victory over the defending World Series champions.

Even though the Athletics are heading to Sacramento before relocating to Las Vegas in 2028, the stadium will remain in place as the Oakland Roots of the USL Championship Soccer League will play there next year.

Athletics owner John Fisher wrote in a recent letter to the team's fans that he wanted to keep the team in the Bay Area but that his efforts had been unsuccessful.

“The Athletics are part of Oakland, the East Bay and the entire Bay Area. When Lou Wolf and I purchased the team in 2005, our dream was to win a world championship and build a new ballpark in Oakland. For the next 18 years, we tried everything in our power to make that happen. We proposed and considered five different sites in the Bay Area and, despite continued mutual efforts to close a deal for the Howard Terminal project, we were unsuccessful in achieving our goal,” the letter reads.

“After 16 years of focusing on developing a home base in the Bay Area and facing a binding agreement with MLB to find a new home by 2024, we finally began considering moving our team to the Bay Area in 2021. Las Vegas.
