The McDonald's fish sandwich has long been a Trump trademark, and during a CNN town hall meeting during his first campaign in 2016, Trump said it was his “favorite meal.”

“I'm a very clean person. I like cleanliness,” Trump said. “I would rather go there than some place where I don't know where the food comes from. There are certain standards. But I think the food is good.”

During his first term in office, President Trump treated several winning sports teams to copious amounts of McDonald's when they came to the White House to celebrate their victories, including the 2019 national football champions, the Clemson Tigers, and that year's women's college basketball champions, the Baylor Bears.

Then-President Trump spoke on March 4, 2019, in the White House Diplomatic Room in Washington, D.C., behind tables lined with McDonald's hamburgers, Chick-fil-A sandwiches and other fast food, welcoming the 2018 Division I football FCS champions, the North Dakota State University Bisons.

Trump has continued to enjoy public outings and lavish meals despite narrowly surviving a second assassination attempt in three months on September 16.

His age – 78 – and health have been hot topics among Democrats regarding his candidacy, especially since President Biden withdrew from the race citing concerns about his health and age.

However, President Trump's personal physician, Dr Bruce Aronwald, released a medical report on the president in November, noting that he was in good health despite his advanced age and that his cognitive function tests were “exceptional.”

“I am pleased to report that President Trump's overall health is excellent. His physical exam was within normal limits, and his cognitive tests were no exception. Moreover, the results of his recent extensive laboratory tests were also within normal limits, with several of the most important parameters being better than in previous tests, likely due to weight loss,” Aronwald wrote.

He wrote that Trump's cardiovascular tests were “normal,” his cancer tests were all negative and he had “lost weight through a modified diet and continued daily exercise while maintaining a rigorous schedule.”

“It is my opinion that President Trump is currently in excellent health, and given his continued interest in proactively monitoring and maintaining his health, he will continue to enjoy a healthy, active lifestyle for many years to come,” Aronwald added.

Game-day food aside, Trump's attendance at the event is one of the most anticipated appearances of the college football season.
