Alsobrooks leads Hogan by double digits in Maryland Senate poll

Democratic candidate Angela Alsobrooks is leading her Republican opponent, former Maryland Governor Larry Hogan, by double digits. New poll finds in a fiercely contested senatorial election in the state.

A Washington Post/University of Maryland poll found that 51 percent found Thirty percent of Old Line voters supported Prince George's County Mayor Also Brooks, while 40% supported Hogan.

Vice President Harris received the support of 63% of Maryland voters in the same poll, while former President Trump had an approval rating of 31%.

Harris has overwhelming support in Maryland, which should boost Alsobrooks' chances of victory, but Republicans are hoping for an upset given Hogan's popularity as a two-term governor.

The latest poll is similar to another recent poll by The Hill/DC News Now/Emerson College released last week, which found Alsobrooks with 49 percent of voters' support, while Hogan had 42 percent.

Also-Brooks is leading with 49.7 percent to Hogan's 40.4 percent, according to The Hill/Decision Desk average of Maryland polls.

The Post-UMD poll was conducted Sept. 19-23 among 1,012 registered voters. The sampling margin of error is plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.
