Mystery winner of $1.13B Mega Millions jackpot in NJ still hasn’t claimed prize after 6 months

Their luck is about to run out!

The mystery winner who bought a $1.13 billion Mega Millions ticket at a New Jersey liquor store earlier this year has still not claimed his prize, six months after winning the state's largest jackpot ever, lottery officials said.

The clock is ticking for the aspiring millionaire who bought his ticket at a ShopRite liquor store in Neptune Township on March 26, as he only has six months to claim his huge windfall.

If no one claims the $536.6 million cash option prize, the jackpot money will be distributed among the 45 states that participate in Mega Millions, along with Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands. NJ.com reported.

Lottery officials said they plan to post signs at liquor stores along Route 66 to help track ticket holders.

The winner purchased just one ticket and manually selected their numbers instead of choosing the automatically generated Quick Pick option.

The lucky numbers were 7, 11, 22, 29, 38, and the golden Mega Ball was 4.

The lottery's prize, which has topped $1 billion over 31 consecutive drawings, is the fifth-largest in U.S. history.

In the Garden State, winners can remain anonymous, but anyone taking home a prize of more than $600 must provide identification to lottery officials to collect their prize.

New Jersey has never had a multi-state jackpot winner denied receiving their prize.

The ShopRite liquor store owner received $30,000 in winnings from ticket sales and said at a press conference that he plans to donate the money to charity.
