Mayor Adams’ chief adviser Ingrid Lewis-Martin has phone seized at airport

Ingrid Lewis Martin, Mayor Eric Adams' chief adviser, was stopped by federal authorities at the airport on Friday as she returned from a vacation in Japan and had her cell phone confiscated, sources told the Post.

Officials said officers from the Southern District of New York were waiting for Lewis Martin after he got off the plane at Kennedy Airport in Queens.

Officials say they went to her Brooklyn home early Friday morning to deliver a phone call and a subpoena for documents to her.

The surprising move comes amid an unusual number of federal investigations into the Adams administration, in which the mayor has so far been accused of secretly soliciting freebies and illegal campaign contributions from wealthy foreigners, including Turkish officials. Adams' longtime friend and adviser Lewis Martin has been on vacation in Japan for at least a week, and her recent absence from the mayor's weekly press conferences has raised eyebrows. .

Lewis Martin previously worked with Adams as vice president while he served as Brooklyn borough president.

While Lewis Marton held the position, Brianna Suggs, who is alleged to have been involved in a straw donation scheme disclosed as part of Adams' 57-page indictment, was hired as an intern.

Lewis Martin's attorney did not respond to a request for comment from the Post on Friday.
