Virginia Tech thought they had upset No. 7 Miami on the road, but the victory was almost literally ripped out of their hands.
With three seconds left and a four-point lead, Hokies quarterback Kyron Drones fired a shot into the back of the end zone into a swarm of both Hokies and Hurricanes.
To the naked eye, it was difficult to tell who had the ball first as seven players jumped for it.
After some shoving, the Miami defensive back ran off with the pork rind and the celebration began.

However, the on-field ruling was actually a touchdown caught by Daquan Felton.
However, after a lengthy review, officials reversed the decision and the Hurricanes won 38-34, leaving the Hokies in complete disbelief.
“It went down to half an inch,” Hurricanes head coach Mario Cristobal said on ESPN after the game, acknowledging his team's play was “sloppy.”
Virginia Tech took the lead with a touchdown on its first drive, but the Hurricanes fought back by finding the end zone themselves on successive drives. But the Hokies scored 20 unanswered points early in the third quarter to take a 27-17 lead.

Miami scored a touchdown late in the quarter to cut the deficit to three points, but Virginia Tech found the end zone again to cut the deficit back to 10 points. The Canes' next drive made it a three-point game again. They forced a three-and-out.
The Canes marched down the field and capitalized on the drive with a touchdown to take the lead with two minutes left. Virginia Tech clearly had plenty of time, but the reviews weren't on their side.
Miami's Cam Ward completed 24 of 38 passes for 343 yards and four touchdowns, and 10 different Hurricanes had at least one reception.
