Lebanon Ignores Hezbollah, Blames Israel for Conflict at U.N.

Lebanon's Foreign Minister Abdallah Bouhabib managed to get through a 17-minute speech at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on Thursday without mentioning Hezbollah or Hamas once.

He accused Israel of “war crimes” for allegedly bombing civilians, without mentioning that Lebanon's Hezbollah has been shelling Israeli civilian targets for months.

Like other terror apologists speaking at the United Nations, Mr. Bouhabib carefully avoided mentioning the October 7 atrocities as a reason for the conflict in Gaza. The Gaza conflict recently spilled over into Lebanon as Lebanon's Hezbollah supported Hamas in attacking Israel.

In the most surprising part of his speech, Mr. Bouhabib actually did not mention the possibility that something bad had happened the previous day that made the region less safe, and that the security situation in the region had worsened since October 8. I actually complained about that.

The only atrocities that the Lebanese Foreign Minister can complain about are: explosion He called Hezbollah's pager and walkie-talkie attacks “abominable and disgusting acts.”

“Civilian devices were turned into time bombs and deliberately detonated at the same time, thereby claiming the lives of dozens of people, including children, including women.” he declared without reminding his audience. .

Similarly, Bouhabib was furious with Israel for bombing civilian buildings in Lebanon, without mentioning that Hezbollah had rocket launchers or ammunition dumps inside such buildings.

Mr. Bouhabib's entire speech boiled down to the familiar refrain of Palestinian terrorism apologists: all violence is entirely Israel's fault, because Israel refuses to bow to Palestinian demands. This is because

Mr. Bouhabib repeatedly referred to the UN resolution without mentioning Hezbollah, its activities, or the malicious destabilizing plans of Hezbollah's backers in Iran. He did not stop considering whether Lebanese terrorists may be causing the spiral and called for “urgent international intervention before the situation gets out of control.”

“What we are currently experiencing in Lebanon is the result of the absence of a sustainable solution. The cause is the occupation… As long as the occupation continues, there will be instability and there will be war.” he said.

“While the United Nations has so far failed to protect us from Israeli aggression, we remain committed to this organization’s role as the first line of defense in the face of occupation, violence, destruction and repression. I will go,” he added.

“The return of displaced Israelis to cities and settlements cannot be achieved by war, nor by shelling, fighting, hostilities or forced displacement of Lebanese people,” he said. Who evacuated Israelis? I raised my voice without mentioning it.

“Is Israel tired of the endless wars that have been going on since 1948? When will Israel have a real chance for peace? There can be no peace without a two-state solution.” said.
