More than 800 animals, including hedgehogs, ducks, chickens and peacocks, have been rescued from a Texas pet store that has been investigated multiple times for animal abuse.
Galveston County Sheriff's Office and Houston SPCA executed the warrant The animals were relocated Thursday morning at the List Pet Store in Santa Fe, about 55 miles south of Houston, the sheriff's office said.
Puppies, kittens, rabbits, hedgehogs, turtles, snakes, lizards, birds, tarantulas and peacocks were adopted from the store.

The seizure was part of an ongoing investigation into multiple animal abuse cases. According to KHOU 11.
“Despite multiple opportunities to improve animal welfare, continued neglect in this business leaves us with no choice but to work with law enforcement to intervene and rescue the animals.” There was no,” Josh Saylor, head of abuse investigations at the Houston SPCA, told the station.
No charges will be filed and a judge will reportedly decide whether to protect the animals at a hearing next week.
