Unranked Kentucky upsets No. 6 Ole Miss after kicker misses potential game-tying field goal

The Kentucky Wildcats shocked the world two weeks ago by nearly upsetting top-ranked Georgia. On Saturday, they officially shocked the world.

The Wildcats went on the road and defeated No. 6 Ole Miss 20-17.

Rebels quarterback Jackson Dart gave the kicker a chance to tie the game in the final seconds of the game. Dart completed a 42-yard completion to tight end Kaden Prieskorn for a fourth-and-11, giving the Rebels an advantage.

However, the Wildcats' defense held firm after allowing a fourth down conversion, and Lane Kiffin sent out the kicker to try to tie the score.

Kicker Caden Davis hooked a 48-yard tying field goal attempt to the left with 48 seconds left, sealing Kentucky's upset victory.

Kentucky's offense struggled for much of the game, but picked up steam when it mattered most.

Trailing 17-13, Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops had a decision to make. The Wildcats had gains of 4 and 7 yards at their own 20-yard line with less than four minutes remaining.

Two plays later, the Wildcats were lucky to get a break. Coach Stoops put quarterback Gavin Wimsatt on the goal line and tried to run the ball for a touchdown.

However, Wimsatt fumbled the ball after being tackled, and the ball ended up in the hands of Wildcats tight end Josh Katas, who ran into the end zone for a touchdown.

Vandagriff threw for 243 yards and a touchdown in the win, connecting with wide receiver Dane Key, who caught eight passes for 105 yards.
