Chicago White Sox owner Jerry Reinsdorf released a letter to fans on Sunday during the team's final game of the season against the Detroit Tigers.

Reinsdorf thanked the fans for the small amount of support they showed his team and said there were “no excuses” for the “failure” of the season. Reinsdorf acknowledged the ongoing changes in baseball operations and the farm team's success, but vowed that improvements are yet to come.

“Whether we say it out loud or write it in a statement, words are simple. We understand that we need to show progress through action. “We are committed to focusing on returning the organization to the level of success that everyone expects and desires,” his letter said.

“Above all, I'm a baseball, Chicago, and White Sox fan. Every loss, every save, every defensive mistake, every shutout, every sweep this season hurt. It was long. , we recognize that it is our responsibility to earn your trust, attention, time, and support, and we are working hard every day to improve our efforts this offseason. I promise to take the approach.

“We owe it to each and every one of you.”

Chicago's 121st loss came Friday night against Detroit.

It's been a downward spiral for the White Sox in recent years. They advanced to the postseason with a record of 93 wins and 69 losses in 2021, followed by 81 wins and then 61 wins. Only 40 this season.
