Dr. Christina Francis is CEO of the American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists and exposes the truth about media misinformation about abortion and miscarriage.
One tragic example of this is the recent story of Amber Thurman, which made headlines when Democrats began using it as a weapon to push their pro-choice agenda. They argued that the deceased mother lost her life because of Georgia's pro-life law that denied her an abortion.
What actually happened is even more heartbreaking.
Thurman was the mother of a 6-year-old boy, but when she learned she was pregnant with twins, she decided to have an abortion. She traveled from Georgia to North Carolina for the procedure because it was too far to legally obtain an abortion in Georgia.
After returning to her home in Georgia and taking abortion pills, she became ill and was rushed to the emergency room after bleeding profusely and showing signs of infection. Doctors gave her antibiotics and performed a physical examination, but the treatment was not done in time to save her life.
“She ended up passing away, which is tragic for those around her.” allie beth stuckey Relatable's Dr. Francis agrees that this is a tragic situation that “could have been avoided.”
“I think we can actually draw very different conclusions than what the media and politicians are drawing from it,” Dr. Francis says. “As she said, since she was pregnant with twins, she would be at increased risk of complications from the abortion pill.”
“Because she was late due to traffic, the abortion facility said they couldn't hold her appointment for more than 15 minutes. So a clinic employee offered her abortion pills. For me, it was the first That was a red flag,” she continued, asking, “Where was the doctor?”
“Where was there anyone who could really give her informed consent about the risks of these drugs?” she asked, noting that it wasn't just the abortion clinic that failed her.
The Georgia hospital that treated Thurman should have known right away that she was showing signs of sepsis and needed “immediate initiation of intravenous antibiotics and a physical examination.”
“This is the only way we can control these infections. Antibiotics alone cannot control them,” Dr. Francis explains, adding, “Any competent obstetrician-gynecologist should know that.” added.
The media and politicians blame Georgia's pro-life law for this, but the doctors who treated her didn't even blame Georgia's pro-life law.
“Georgia's law would not have applied to Amber Thurman for two reasons,” Dr. Francis explains. “When she was taken to the emergency room, her baby was not yet alive. Georgia law clearly states that it does not apply to situations where the fetus dies or the baby has already died.” It is listed.”
“Secondly,” she continued. “Georgia law provides a clear medical exception that would have allowed doctors to intervene immediately if a woman faced life-threatening complications. We therefore rightly point out that We need to strongly condemn these abortion drugs.”
Dr. Francis also said that these infections are known to be caused by abortion drugs, and that “as far as we know, more than 30 women have died in the United States right now after taking these drugs.” It is also pointed out that
