Week 6 Heisman odds, predictions: New No. 1 but value lies elsewhere

After an exhilarating fifth week of college football, much has changed in the Heisman race.

Most notable are the fast-rising quartet, including a new No. 1 player, whose performances over the weekend have propelled them to the top of the odds board.

Let's take a look at how the odds change heading into Week 6 and where the stakes are.

Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe

Milroe is currently the odds-on favorite to win the Heisman with a price of +200 on FanDuel. On the national stage in prime time, he completed 27 of 33 passes for 374 yards and two touchdowns against Georgia, and also had 16 rushing attempts for 117 yards and two scores.

It was the best performance of his career in a pivotal moment for the Crimson Tide, and the University of Alabama is now the favorite to win the SEC championship.

Miami quarterback Cameron Ward

Ward was the favorite heading into Week 5, but fell behind Milroe. On Friday night, the Canes barely survived a final struggle against Virginia Tech and won 38-34.

He threw two interceptions in the game, helping to keep the Hokies close, but finished with 343 passing yards and four touchdowns, and added 10 rushing attempts for 57 yards. He scored 1 point.

Miami's easy schedule could be a problem as they struggle to find true Heisman moments in prime-time games. But if Miami goes undefeated and wins the ACC, it will be hard to rule out his candidacy.

Colorado wide receiver/defensive back Travis Hunter

Hunter is surging up the odds board and is currently priced at +600 on FanDuel. The two-way player has had no shortage of Heisman moments on both sides of the ball already this season.

The Buffaloes pulled off a huge upset on the road against Central Florida on Saturday and look poised to make a serious postseason berth in their first season in the Big 12, which should help Hunter's candidacy.

He has 46 catches for 561 yards and six touchdowns this season. He also made some clutch plays defensively, including a game-clinching forced fumble near the goal line in Week 4 against Baylor.

Boise State running back Ashton Giunty

Janti is also moving up the odds board, going from +3300 last week to its current price of +1200.

He has 845 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns through four games, averaging a whopping 10.3 yards per carry. The Broncos are also 3-1 and look poised for a Group of 5 spot in the College Football Playoff.

Ole Miss quarterback Jackson Dart

The Rebels suffered a timely come-from-behind loss at home to Kentucky on Saturday, but it's hard to ignore Dart's impressive numbers this season.

He threw for 1,815 yards, 13 touchdowns, and only two interceptions. According to Pro Football Focus, that included nine touchdowns on passes of 20 or more yards downfield and just one interception.

For Dart to have a chance, the Rebels will need to be near-perfect for the rest of the season, which will be difficult with a road game against LSU and a home game against Georgia looming.
